赤い250SWB Part 3 – Performing a Facelift

フェイスリフトを敢行

The Ferrari 250SWB may seem restrained design at first glance, but it has distinctive details throughout. In this build, I aim to reproduce these features with my own interpretation.

フェラーリ250SWBという車は一見地味ですが、随所に特徴的なディテールを持っていて、今回の制作ではそれらを自分なりの解釈も交えて再現できればいいなと思っています。

To raise the height of the hood, I first made incisions along the lower edge of the front windshield using a chisel and an etching saw, then lifted the thin window frame upward.

まずはボンネットの高さをかさ上げすべく、フロントウインドウの下辺にタガネとエッチングソーで切れ目を入れ、細い窓枠だけを上方に持ち上げます。

Next, I cut along the recessed edge between the fenders and the hood, pulling the rear end of the hood up significantly—this alone changed the impression of this model drastically.

続いて左右のフェンダーとボンネットの谷間にも切り込みを入れ、ボンネットの後端をグイッと！　これでかなり印象が変わりました。

After adjusting the rear height of the hood and temporarily fixing it with superglue, I let it set overnight. I then used a saw to completely detach the fenders from both sides of the front grille and pushed them outward. This corrected the “cross-eyed” look of the headlights.

ボンネット後端の高さを適切なレベルに調整し、黒瞬着で仮止め。一晩置いてからフロントグリルの両脇も鋸を入れてフェンダーを完全に切り離し、左右に押し広げることで、やや寄り目だったヘッドライトの位置を矯正しました。

I lowered the front edge of the hood by about 1mm and then merged them with solder. This is a challenging task that requires a high-wattage soldering iron (50W or more).

ボンネットの前端の高さも1mmほど下げてから、グリルの両脇を半田で固めます。50W以上の太めの半田コテを使わないと難しい作業かなと思います。

To fill the gaps between the hood and fenders, I used “black putty”—a mixture of black superglue and a scoop of micro powder.

ボンネットとフェンダーの隙間埋めには、黒い瞬間接着剤にパウダーを混ぜた「黒パテ」を使いました。

To check the overall impression, I assembled the body and chassis and 3D-printed tires. For the wheels, I used some deep-rim Bosica wheels left over from a previous project, which I slightly narrowed on a lathe to match the tires.

ここでボディとシャシー、3Dプリントで作ったタイヤを仮組みして全体の印象をチェック。ホイールは過去作で使わなかったBosicaの深リムが余っていたので、タイヤに合わせて旋盤で浅く削ったものを使います。

I used 1.4mm brass pipes for the wheel shafts. So happy it looks perfectly without needing any major adjustments.

ホイールシャフトには1.4mmの真鍮パイプを使用。大きな調整の必要もなく、すんなり良い姿勢に収まってくれました。
