FORD GT40を塗り直せ Part5 – 塗装とデカール

The AMR Ford GT40 body has been painted blue, the decals applied, and the first coat of clear vanish has been coated.

AMRのフォードGT40はボディをブルーに塗装してデカールを貼り、1回目のクリアーをオーバーコートしました。

The paint was GSI Creos Lascivus Aura Sky Blue (CL111), mixed with approximately 30% white. I applied three coats of this mixture, but after removing the masking, the paint ridges were more prominent than expected. In hindsight, the final coat might have been unnecessary.

使った塗料はGSIクレオスのラスキウスアウラ空色（CL111）に白を3割ほど混ぜたもの。これを3回重ね吹きしましたが、マスキングを剥がしてみると予想以上に段差が目立ったので、最後の1吹きは余計だったかなと思います。

For the nose stripe, which I had forgotten to mask beforehand, I first exposed the base color -urethane white- by wiping the area with a solvent-dampened cotton swab, and then applied the decal on top of that.

マスクし忘れたノーズのストライプについては、溶剤を含ませた綿棒で下地のウレタン塗膜を露出させてから貼っています。

The issue I had been worried about in the video — whether the stripe decals would be long enough — turned out to be a real problem: there simply wasn’t enough to cover the rear intake and spoiler. To work around this, I left the white band on those areas as the white base coat, then applied thin strips cut from stripe decals along the boundary with the blue to define the edge cleanly.

配信でも懸念していたストライプの尺の問題は、リアのインテークとスポイラーに貼る分が足りなかったので、白帯はウレタンの下地を活かし、ブルーとの境界線に帯デカールの細切りを貼り込んで対処しました。

For the clear coats, rather than applying one heavy layer, I let each coat dry for half a day, then sanded with 1500-grit paper to level out any unevenness before spraying the next. By repeating this process for the second and third coats, I gradually built up the paint film thickness.

クリアーコートは一度に厚吹きせず、半日乾燥させてから1500番のサンドペーパーで中研ぎを入れ、表面の凸凹を均してから2回目、3回目と吹き重ね、徐々に塗膜の厚みを稼ぐようにしています。
